SXSW Panel Picker Closes Tomorrow

We received a reminder early this morning that voting for the SXSW Panel Picker will close tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 21 at 11:59 p.m. CST). So this is our last chance to drum up support for the panel we submitted: Make More Money: Set Your Content Free.

Here's the description: If you're interested in new ways to monetize Web content, this is for you. Perhaps you have archived materials, database content, or user-generated content. How can you leverage these assets to generate new revenue streams? What technologies can extend your reach into the offline world? How can personally-relevant content become a branding tool for your site?

More specifically, we would like to explore several ways that you can monetize Web content by automatically flowing relevant information into a structured book product that can be purchased and personalized by the end user. We call it reverse publishing -- Web to print. If selected to present, we plan to discuss how several companies are already benefiting from the technology.

If the topic sounds interesting, please let the SXSW organizers know -- you can access our proposal here.

SXSW 2008 Panel Picker

Just FYI, the 2008 SXSW Interactive Panel Picker went live today. If you're planning to attend SXSW, or just interested in learning more, please check out Caroline's proposed session entitled, "Make More Money: Set Your Web Content Free." SXSW panels are selected based on feedback from the community. You can create a quick sign in to rate and comment on the sessions you think sound the most interesting.

SXSW is currently planning to include 80 sessions from the Panel Picker in the 2008 event. With 683 different panel ideas submitted, we are going to need everyone's help to make the cut! If you click on search options underneath the header on the top left of the main page, a green box will pop up that will help you navigate through the proposed sessions.

Upcoming Events

It has been a busy couple of weeks at SharedBook… We launched our Open API last week, this blog on Monday and PeoplesAnnotated.com on Tuesday. Now we’re getting ready for two events on opposite coasts!

Caroline, Bridget (our head of business development, look for her to post here on Tues.), Thea (our marketing manager) and I are heading out to San Francisco for Web 2.0 Expo. We’re exhibiting in Booth #327 and looking forward to meeting with as many people as possible. If you’d like to catch up while we’re there, send me a note: amanby at sharedbook.com.

While we’re in California, Dave Brown, our head of IT operations, is headed back to Boston for the ON DEMAND Conference & Exposition. Dave will be there on Wednesday (4/18). If you want to talk to Dave, you can reach him by e-mail: dgbrown at sharedbook.com.

Speaking of travel - stay tuned. Word has it that Mor Schlesinger, our head of research & development, is planning to post a few thoughts here on Monday. Mor will be joining in from her desk in Herzlia, Israel, where our development team is based.
